I used to always remember sitting and watching ads and promos on TV thinking I can do that! Since starting The Face job, I have been learning how to edit – what a wake up call! These editors know what they are doing! A 30 second ad can take two hours to put together. There is the clipping, the music, the dissolving – I could go on forever! I have been sitting with Amanda, who is an amazing editor, and we have been putting my Face packages together that you see on Indy Style as well as the website. Now it’s time to start on my own! What?!

By the end of my Face year, I will have such joy looking back on this post while laughing! Because, by then, I can be known as: Danielle, editor! Maybe!

To introduce D’Buzz to everyone, Janine and I went out around the circle to meet with fellow Hoosiers to see if they could say it. We met some very nice people along the way that were so nice to be a part of this. The most memorable would have to be those guys from Japan! They were such good sports about the whole thing and even liked my Facebook page afterwords! Good thing I was familiar about Facebook because it was all in Japanese. All in all, it was such a great experience, not only great weather, but having the opportunity to introduce myself to the public face-to-face!

My First Show

So this is my very first blog!! Big thanks to Jason for showing me how to do this – hopefully I will make him proud!

I wanted to share with you my first co-hosting experience on Indy Style! After a whirlwind night of our live show to announce the next Face of MyINDY-TV, it was right to work the next morning! Still in shock from winning, I arrived bright and early to start my new job! What should I wear? What do I say? How do I interact with all the guests? These questions were plaguing my mind all morning! As soon as I walked on set I was greeted by Chef Jim from the Mucky Duck and Peggy the producer. Chef is a character making you laugh at anything and everything and Peggy was so nice to put me right at ease. What an amazing show to be part of! Everyone makes you feel right at home and have to give props to Andi Hauser! She made it seem like we were the best of friends just talking on a Friday night about what’s going on! Was there a camera even there? I want to truly thank everyone at Indy Style for making my first day one I will never forget!

IT’S 2011: Woohoo!!

Happy new year y’all! I’m so excited to kick off 2011… 2010 flew by and was full of blessings for me–including landing my gig as the new Face of MyINDY-TV. I can’t wait to see what this year has in store.

As far as resolutions… I have a ton (don’t we all?) but I’ll let you in on one that everyone will get to follow along with as I (if all goes as planned!) progress: GUITAR!

I started lessons with Fishers Guitar this past autumn and love it. I can be a bit of a procrastinator when it comes to practicing (anything, lol) but I’ll keep you updated and maybe even get some behind-the-scenes footage of my lessons… practice sessions… and dare I say, performance? I’ll have to work my way up to that one! (Way up…)

Well, anyhoo, hope your new year celebration was as awesome as mine–can’t wait to mix and mingle with even more of Indy in 2011!

Tailgating at DUNAWAY’S!!

OMG! Had an awesome time last night at Dunaway’s… it’s an amazing restaurant in downtown Indy on S. East St. They have a real cool rooftop area for eating in warm weather and their tailgating food was amazing… tiny little burgers fresh off the grill, topped with a Parmesan garlic butter spread were my faves of the night!

I held a paper-football-flicking contest and the winner walked away with a one-of-a-kind Colts prize pack that included an autographed football, $50 gift certificate to Dunaway’s, and official Colts’ and MyINDY-TV gear!!

Lunch at Saffron Cafe!

Definitely had THEE most delicious lunch today at Saffron Cafe with contest winner, Jade Howard. Turns out Jade is a pretty awesome photographer! You can check out his work at www.jadefoxpictures.com.

We hung out with a couple of my co-workers and had a really good time. I had the chicken kabobs w/yellow rice & roasted potatoes. The spicy sauce on the side? Something. Serious. Ingest with caution!! We topped off lunch with some delicious (and rich!) Baklava… I got served Moroccan green tea w/mint leaves–my little Moroccan cup was even accompanied by my own personal tea pot!

The vibe was super mellow, colorful, and definitely Moroccan–just like the food they serve. It’s in the heart of downtown Indy and I’m gonna go ahead and recommend you check it out: www.saffroncafe-indy.com!

Getting Down on the Guitar!

Sooo… I’m pretty excited! I started private guitar lessons out in Fishers a couple weeks ago and so far so good. They always say it’s harder to pick up these sorts of things once you’re older, but it’s not so bad and I’m loving it. Except after practicing for more than 15 minutes… we’re talking serious fingertip issues.

I’m obsessed (in a totally non-creepy way) with neo-soul/r&b artists like India.Arie, Corrine Bailey Rae and most recently Laura Izibor (check ‘em out!). Being able to play their music would be fun and if I was a guy I bet it would totally help me pull the ladies. I’m not sure if it works the other way around though. Does it??

Hmmm… maybe I’ll walk around downtown with a guitar and see what happens.
